Golf in Sarigerme: Is there a Golf Course in Sarigerme?

Short answer: Almost!

Long answer: It’s been “almost” for a very, very long time, BUT there is some good news on the horizon.

Let’s break it down.
Yes, a golf course is planned for Sarigerme. That part is genuine. It’s been “on its way” for what feels like longer than The Lord of the Rings trilogy. And much like that epic journey, no one knows precisely when it will arrive — or if it ever will.

When we say “planned,” we don’t mean a vague dream someone scribbled on a napkin. Oh no. The whole thing is supposedly locked, loaded, and ready to tee off. There’s land. There’s a design. There’s even money. Loads of it. So, what’s the holdup?

At the moment, there are some developments; the golf course is starting to materialise, starting with the green layout. As you come over the bridge into Sarigerme Village, you will see part of the course on your left – the entrance of the Golf Course is currently on the road going down to the entrance of the Hilton.

Whilst currently unnamed, the track is set to measure 6,728 yards from the back tees and is predicted to become one of the most beautiful and prestigious golfing experiences in Turkey.

A driving range, putting green, short-game area, clubhouse, restaurant, and halfway house are among the facilities that will complement the course.

Ah, politics — the sand trap of progress.
Since the Hilton Dalaman Resort rolled into town, the whispers started: “Next year, the golf course will be ready.” Then the next year came. And the next.
And… well, here we are. Still, no golf. Still lots of whispering.

Despite the green light from investors (and the green fees waiting to be collected), there are rumors — and we’re talking cloak-and-dagger, behind-the-curtain-type rumors — that invisible forces (read: politics) might be blocking the fairway. Why? Let’s take a quick swing over to Antalya.
Antalya, for the uninitiated, is Turkey’s golf capital. They’ve got lush fairways and championship-level courses, and they’re raking in money faster than a caddy after a celebrity tournament. Some believe the powers-that-be might not want to share the golden goose. After all, more competition in Sarigerme means slicing into those sweet, sweet Antalya profits.

But wait — there’s a twist! (This is starting to sound like a Netflix series.) Word on the street now is that the government is considering building not one, not two, but three new professional golf courses just across the Dalaman River. If that happens, the Hilton’s 18-hole course would finally have some neighbours, and Sarigerme could become the next golfing hotspot.
